Khalifahklothing - The Excellence of the 10 days of Dhul Hijjah - Alyas Karmani

Do you know what the first 10 days of Dhul Hijjah are and why are these days so important not only for the people who are making hajj but for all the Muslims?What should the Muslims be doing in these 10 days?Among the great seasons of worship are the first ten days of Dhu'l-Hijjah, which Allah has favoured over other days. It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "There are no days on which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days." They said: "Not even jihad for the sake of Allah?" He said: "Not even jihad for the sake of Allah, unless a man goes out himself for jihad taking his wealth with him and does not come back with anything." Narrated by al-Bukhari, 2/457It was also narrated from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "There is no deed that is better before Allah or more greatly rewarded than a good deed done in the (first) ten days of al-Adha." It was said: "Not even jihad for the sake of Allah?" He said: "Not even jihad for the sake of Allah, unless a man goes out himself for jihad taking his wealth with him and does not come back with anything." Narrated by al-Daarimi, 1/357; its isnad is hasan as stated in al-Irwa', 3/398.These texts and others indicate that these ten days are better than all other days of the year, with no exception, even the last ten days of Ramadan. But the last ten nights of Ramadan are better than the first ten nights of Dhu'l-Hijjah, because they include Laylat al-Qadr, which is better than a thousand months. He is currently a consultant for West Yorkshire and London Probation service in relation to resettlement and reintegration of Muslim Offenders. Alyas has a Psychology background with close to 20 years of counselling and therapy work focussing on Muslim centred mental health and emotional well being. Alyas is also an Imam and Khateeb (preacher/presenting Friday sermons) at a number of Mosques in the North of England and across the UK. Alyas is also a specialist in youth empowerment and emotional well- being having been a senior policy advisor for the WelshAssembly government relating to youth empowerment and development 2008-2009.
